Political Science

Political Science - General Track

This track is recommended for students who wish to pursue a general program of political science, applicable to many different careers


If you're interested in going to law school, we provide a pre-law track in Political Science.  Our students have gone on to receive law degrees from Dickinson, Georgetown, Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford and Villanova, among many others.  DeSales University offers the St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society and the Mock Trial program.  

National Security

If you're interested in a career in either the public or private sector dealing with national security issues, you can study national security, terrorism, and intelligence. In addition, you'll take field trips and have the chance to intern at such places as the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C. The DeSales national security track provides opportunities to attend symposiums at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and the Strategic Studies Institute at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. DeSales also has a very active national security club that invites speakers from the intelligence community. 

Shadowing Program

Freshmen & sophomores have the opportunity to spend a few days with selected employers in the Lehigh Valley during the Spring semester.  This program allows you to discern your career goals in the early years of your education and gear the second half of your university experience toward these goals.
